Whincup Continues Middle East Domination
28 Feb 2010
Jamie Whincup continues his great start to the 2010 V8 season with another 2 wins |
Jamie Whincup showed his challengers they need to put a lot of effort in if they want to beat him as he took the second V8 Supercar race in Bahrain.
Whincup had a poor start, dropping to fifth, but by lap eight he was back up front. However, Whincup had Mark Winterbottom all over his tail pipes until the closing laps of the race to take the win by five seconds.
Third place was snatched by Shane van Gisbergen and was well deserved as he qualified 14th.
Rick Kelly race was also a battle as he moved from 11th to take fourth batt;e likehad a similar race, moving up from 11th on the grid to finish fourth.
Lee Holdsworth's was going well but started to fall down the order towards the end finally finishing fifth and only just managed to hold off sixth place man Will Davison by just three-tenths of a second.
Like teammate Whincup, Craig Lowndes, did not have a racing start and sat in 14th but managed to regain some honour and moved up to eighth towards the end of the second round of stops. Unfortunately, that was to be his best place as he finished 12th.
Garth Tander's did not have a good day at the office either as he bumped Jason Bright at turn one on lap one, dropping to 27th.
He finally regained some lost places but found himself in a incident with Steven Richards where Tander broke his steering and parked his machine.
Whincup now sits on 600 points, 57 ahead of Winterbottom. Van Gisbergen now sits in third on 129 points off the championship lealapll.
