Audi has put its new RS4 Avant on Show at the Geneva Motor Show, giving the car its first public appearance.
The RS4 has been shown off in station wagon form and under its bonnet it’s the same 4.2-litre V8 engine as the one used in the RS5. This means it gets 331kW and 430Nm, which is a fairly substantial improvement over the last RS4.
As you would expect, power is sent to the road through Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The default power ration through the wheels is 40:60, however, under certain circumstances up to 70% of the power can go to the front and up to 85% to the rear.
Audi claims that it will be able to get from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds before it hits its top speed of 250km/h, which can be increased to 280km/h on request. Audi claims that the fuel consumption figure will sit below 11l/100km.
It features a revised chassis, as well as a new speed-dependant electromechanical power steering unit, a stiffer suspension setup, a 20mm lower ride height and a new high-performance brake package, with carbon ceramic stoppers offered as an option.
There are several subtle styling hints to let people know that this is an RS4, things like the newly designed bumpers, side skirts, rear diffuser, front grille, flared wheel arches and a discrete roof spoiler.
Inside there are some sport seats, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and carbon fibre and aluminium inserts on the door sills.
