Ferrari launched the F1 car it hopes will return the team to it's former glory 2012 on Friday. The team had to to cancel its launch due to snow now at Maranello Thursday and rather published images of its car on its official website.
Delivering on the promised of a more radical design, the stepped-nosed car is the result of a major push by the team under the guidance of new technical director Pat Fry.
Initial reports suggested the car is ugly, something Ferrari Tombazis denies: "For me I have got used to the bump on the nose. I think the rest of the car has been the fruit of a lot of detail work.
"Ultimately an ugly car is one that doesn't win and a beautiful car is one that does win. So, for now, I want to believe it is a beautiful car and we will have to review that after the first few races."
"It looks very different from what we have seen in the last two years," team leader Fernando Alonso admitted. "It's my third season at Ferrari and I am going to start with the same strength and determination. I want to do great.
"Of course it will be quite competitive for the whole season, but we want to see red cars on the podium. We start next week in Jerez and we keep working together. I am sure we will do well this year."
"I believe in the skills we have here in Ferrari. We have two months to get ready before the first competition - we have to fight for the title and try and get as many points as possible. "We really want to be right at the top of the ranking.
