One year ago Ford showed off its B-Max concept at the Geneva Motor Show and now the American manufacturer has taken the wraps off the production version that is scheduled to have its official debut at Geneva in March.
The production version is quite similar to the concept we saw last year, with only minor changes, but that’s not entirely unexpected as what we saw in Geneva 12 months ago was more of a showcar, rather than a pure, crazy concept.
Some of the styling differences include the lack of a chrome front-grille, as well as visible door handles. Then, like the concept, it features sliding rear doors with integrated center pillars that help to offer a wide opening for drivers, passengers and luggage.
The Fiesta-based B-Max has set its sights on the likes of the Opel Meriva and will be one of the first Fords to be offered with the new one-litre three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine. It will be offered with two power levels, either 74kW or 92. Ford will also offer it with a range of Duratorq diesel engines although we don’t have specifics about the diesels yet.
It should be on European showroom floors later this year, sometime after Geneva, but there’s no word yet whether it will come to SA or not.
