Jag considering XFR-S, to take on M5

2 Feb 2012

Jaguar looks to be seriously considering launching an XFR-S in order to give the company a serious M5 and E63 rival
So if you’re looking at buying a really fast luxury sports saloon, what do you buy. The new 412kW BMW M5, or maybe you prefer the E63/CLS63 AMG fitted with the Performance kit that takes power up to 410kW. But what about something from Jaguar? Well, they’ve got the XFR, but with 375kW on tap, it seems a little outgunned.

Well Jaguar has noticed this problem as well and apparently the British firm is seriously considering adding an S to the end of the car’s name. The R-S name has been well established since it burst onto the scene with the XKR-S, so I’m sure you all would welcome an XFR-S will open arms.

At this stage nothing is official but like the treatment the XKR-S received, you can expect the hotter sedan to have a firmer chassis, more aggressive styling, sportier suspension and a louder exhaust. On top of all this, you can definitely expect the power from the five-litre supercharged engine to be boosted to around the 410kW mark, to give it a proper chance of keeping up with the Germans.
