PREVIEW - Bridgestone Production Cars
11 Mar 2010
Cape Town is going to play host to some thrilling Production Car racing at Killarney this coming weekend. |

South Africa’s premier circuit racing category is ready to delight Cape Town motorsport enthusiasts on 13 March, with their new race day format and an entry list of 24 of the country’s best drivers.
Class A will boast 10 entries, a staggering 8 of which are former South African Champions. Following his brilliant performance in the new BMW 335i at Kyalami three weeks ago, Anthony Taylor (Afrox) has taken an early points lead and will be hoping to repeat his performance at Killarney. Melvill Priest will also be looking for top honours for the Afrox team.
The Engen Xtreme Team will be represented by Michael Stephen, who currently lies second in the points standings and Tschops Sipuka. Tschops is a new addition to the Audi team, after spending a year in the Formula Volkswagen single seater category.
The Nissan 350Zs have historically been quick at Killarney. Leeroy Poulter and Marco da Cunha will be hoping to translate this speed into a good points haul for SAM Racing and Tubular Technical Construction.
Johan Fourie (IndyOil Audi) will be hoping to use his home ground advantage to gain maximum points and minimise his poor luck at Kyalami. Other drivers hoping to improve on their Kyalami performances are Lee Thompson (Rough Rider BMW 330i) and Hennie Groenewald (Subaru WRX STI). Groenewald will be behind the wheel of the only Subaru, as Dawie Olivier continues to recover from a back op.
It is anticipated that Richard Pinard will use the Killarney event to debut the aesthetically pleasing Lotus Exige.
