Meet the future BMW supercar with M3 performance and Mini fuel economy and Emissions....
a showcase of BMW performance, dynamics and efficiency, Vision Efficient Dynamics will debut at the Frankfurt motor show in two weeks bristling with lightweight body construction, advanced hybrid-drive technology and fresh packaging and aerodynamic ideas.
BMWs of the future ae likely to all boast developments highligyed on this concept and developed at BMW’s FIZ R&D headquarters in Munich with most of it coming to market in the 2013 BMW Z10 ED.
The 3-series coupé sized concept has supercar proportions, however and its most intriguing aspect is its 120kW 300Nm turbo 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbodiesesel (more powerful than the latest, most economical BMW’2-litre) aided and abetted by a pair of 2hybrid drive 25kW 280Nm and 60kW 210kW electric motors.
The eMotors can respectively produce 35 and 105kW for short periods for a total of 265kW and an astounding 770Nm to propel the surprisingly lightweight 1395kW Vision ED to a 4.8-second 0-100 and a speed limited 250km/h via its 190kW/litre power to mass ratio...
But Vision ED sips just 3.5l/100km and delivers a Prius-like 99g/km CO2 emissions.
Vision ED boasts a plug-in facility to pre-charge its 85kg battey pack via a socket located in the right front wing fof a full charge off a conventionsl 220 volt wall plug in just two and a half hours. 380V will power it up in just 44 minutes.
